Hi👋🏻👋🏻 I’m Mohammed Junaid. Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I was always interested in technology, keeping myself updated with what’s happening in the tech industry. Ever since I was a kid

I started my career back at Amazon back in 2022 as an ML Data Associate without knowing much about the role at the time, which was nothing but transcribing audio, annotating text etc…

Starting at Amazon gave me the jumpstart I needed in my career, but it wasn’t enough. On top of that, I was working rotational shifts every 3 months. Hence, I quit my job in May 2024 and switched to Digital Marketing thinking I would be a good fit but realized it isn’t my cup of tea.

Once I quit Amazon, I started meeting lots of people through networking events, WhatsApp communities & even joined an NGO where I teach kids English every single weekend.

Through this NGO, I shared my resume to a fellow volunteer who recommended me to pursue a career in Business Analyst as I had 50% of the necessary skills to become a Business Analyst.

The rest 50%? I had to prepare. Hence, I created a roadmap using DeepSeek for the shift and also using tools like NotebookLM for summaries of YT tutorials & blogs instead of going through them entirely.

🙌🏻 Here’s what I’m gonna be doing in this journey

  • I’ll share the topics I learned throughout the week.

  • I’ll share the challenges faced & how I overcame them.

  • And finally, you’ll get to be a part of this journey.

For the next 3 months (14 weeks), I’ll be sharing the topics I learned, things I built (no matter how tiny it is), practical tips & tricks while coding & many more.

For the path to Business Analyst, based on research, these are the key skills to focus on:

  • SQL

  • Power BI

  • Excel

  • Business Analysis & Statistics

  • Python (optional if you’re becoming a Data Analyst)

I’m using roadmap.sh as it gives me a clear path on the things to be learned.

With that being said, here’s my progress for week 1:

I started practicing SQL 2 weeks before starting this challenge by watching videos from Kevin Stratvert but again, tutorial hell is a real thing & I don’t wanna fall for it.

Hence after a week, I started downloading & using Microsoft SQL Server.

Here are the concepts I went through this week:

  • Difference between SQL & NoSQL

  • DML (Data Manipulative Language) vs DDL (Data Definitive Language)

  • INSERT statement (which comes under DML)

  • DELETE statement (which comes under DML)

  • UPDATE statement (which comes under DML)

  • TRUNCATE statement (which comes under DDL)

Well, that’s it for this week.

By next week, I’ll be sharing detailed notes, practice codes & ways to use AI for your learning.

Stay tuned!
