Hello everyone! πŸ‘‹ As a self-taught solo developer, my passion lies in bringing ideas to life through code. Today I'm thrilled to share a personal project I've been pouring my heart into: ClimateRisk Index Live (https://climaterisk.vercel.app).

This initiative is my journey into the critical world of climate risk assessment. ClimateRisk Index Live aims to provide on-demand climate risk scores for any location through a simple API... powered by global Earth data.

To build this, I've been diving deep into datasets from incredible sources like NOAA, Copernicus, and NASA EONET. It's been a steep but exhilarating learning curve, connecting code with the complex realities of our planet. πŸ›°οΈπŸŒ

But here’s the thing: while I'm confident in my development skills, I'm a solo dev without a formal background in climate science, ESG, or geological studies. This project is my way of learning, contributing, and connecting with a domain that deeply matters.

And that's where you come in! πŸ™

I'm eager to gather constructive feedback from experts and enthusiasts in:

Climate Science πŸŒ‘οΈπŸ’§
ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) πŸ“ŠπŸŒ±
Geology & Earth Science β›°οΈπŸŒŠ
Earth Data & Remote Sensing πŸ“‘πŸ’»

Specifically, I'd love your insights on:

Data Reliability & Methodology: Given my use of NOAA, Copernicus, NASA EONET, are there other critical datasets or methods I should explore for robust climate risk assessment?

Hazard Parameters: Am I on the right track with monitoring hazards like flood, drought, heat and wildfire? Are there other crucial "disaster parameters" I should consider, or nuances in how these are defined/measured?

Risk Score Calculation: While I'm building my own approach, what are the industry-standard frameworks or best practices for calculating composite climate risk scores? Any "secret sauce" principles I should be aware of?

User Needs & Data Formats: For industries like Financial Services, Insurer, Real Estate, Agriculture, or Supply Chain – what specific data types, formats, or levels of granularity do they truly need from a service like this? How can I ensure the data is most useful and actionable for them?

Please visit the prototype: https://climaterisk.vercel.app explore the dashboard, test the API (example): https://climaterisk.vercel.app/api/risk?lat=28.6429&lon=77.2191

This project is a journey--- and I believe the best way to learn and grow is by engaging with those who possess deep domain expertise. Your feedback will be invaluable in refining ClimateRisk Index Live and making it a truly impactful tool. Kindly share your thoughts in the comments below or DM! Thank you for your time and expertise! πŸ™
