MCP (Model Context Protocol), originally developed by Anthropic, is rapidly becoming a foundational component in the evolving landscape of LLM-based tool calling. MCP enables models to interact with tools and services seamlessly, extending their capabilities far beyond simple language tasks. From GitHub repositories to Docker containers, and from Gmail integrations to Notion workspaces, MCP servers are proliferating across platforms.

1. AI Models and Frameworks Supporting MCP

  • Claude (Desktop version)
Native support for MCP servers for extended tool-calling.

  • Baidu Maps
Offers API integration through MCP for geolocation services.

  • Blender
Currently, MCP integration does not support NLP-based 3D model creation.

  • Replit
Supports MCP integration, allowing coding agents to interact with Replit environments.

  • Microsoft Copilot Studio
Includes extended support for MCP tool integration.

  • Code Editors

    • Cursor and Windsurf AI: Seamlessly support MCP servers.

    • Cline (VS Code Extension): Provides robust MCP integration for code assistance and automation.

These tools represent the client-side components in a growing MCP-based ecosystem.
