CBSE Admission Age Criteria and Guidelines for Schools | GIIS Ahmedabad

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has set admission rules for primary and secondary schools in India. For primary schools, admission is granted on the basis of age criteria and availability of seats.

The minimum age for admission to class 1 is 5 years, while the maximum age is 7 years. For secondary schools, admission is granted on the basis of merit and availability of seats. Students have to clear an entrance exam to secure admission. CBSE also reserves some seats for children from economically weaker sections and those with disabilities, ensuring equal access to education for all.
