Cybersecurity Fundamentals 10

Part 10: IoT Security — The Invisible Danger in Your Smart Devices
From your smartwatch to your smart fridge — if it's online, it's hackable.
The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized convenience — but opened a new door for cybercriminals.
What is IoT?
Devices connected to the internet that aren't traditional computers:
Smart bulbs
Home security cams
Fitness trackers
Smart TVs
Industrial sensors
"Tumhare ghar ka CCTV agar open port par pada hai, toh koi bhi India ke bahar se dekh sakta hai."
Why IoT is Vulnerable:
Weak default passwords
No auto-updates
No built-in firewalls
Exposed to the internet (public IPs)
IoT Security Tips:
Change default login credentials
Disable unnecessary features (remote access, UPnP)
Use a separate guest network for IoT
Check open ports using tools like
shodan.io
Regularly update firmware
Monitor traffic with apps like Fing or Wireshark
Career Link:
Want to go into IoT Pentesting or Industrial Cybersecurity (ICS/SCADA)?
IoT security is a fast-growing niche — especially with smart cities and Industry 4.0 coming up.
