๐Ÿ“˜ Introduction:

In SAP FICO, Terms of Payment play a crucial role in defining the payment conditions between a company and its customers or vendors. Whether it's about when to pay or when to expect payment, these terms impact cash flow, accounting entries, and vendor/customer relationships.

In this blog post by Unite Academy, we will walk you through what Terms of Payment are, their configuration, and their practical use in SAP.

๐Ÿ” What are Terms of Payment?

Terms of Payment in SAP define:

  • When an invoice is due for payment

  • Discounts offered for early payment

  • Credit period allowed to customers or from vendors

They are used in:

  • Vendor Master Data

  • Customer Master Data

  • Sales and Purchase Documents

  • Invoice Documents

Hereโ€™s how you configure Terms of Payment in SAP:

Step 1: Enter Transaction Code OBB8
Navigate to:
SPRO > SAP Reference IMG > Financial Accounting > Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable > Business Transactions > Incoming Invoices/Credit Memos > Maintain Terms of Payment

Step 2: Define Terms of Payment
You can create entries such as:

  • 0002: Pay within 14 days with 2% discount or 30 days net

Key Fields to Fill:

  • Days for Net Payment

  • Cash Discount Percentage

  • Baseline Date Calculation

๐Ÿงพ Example:

Letโ€™s say the terms of payment are:
"2% discount if paid within 10 days, net due in 30 days."
