India is set to host the Asia Cup 2025, but the tournament’s future remains unclear due to ongoing political tensions with Pakistan. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will meet in Dhaka on July 24 to decide the fate of the event.

BCCI: According to Sports Tak, the BCCI has requested the ACC to change the meeting venue from Dhaka. Although India is scheduled to host the tournament, many fans have called for a boycott against playing Pakistan.

India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13, meeting only in ICC or ACC events. This year, calls to boycott Pakistan in the Asia Cup have intensified following the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

According to a Sportstak report, the BCCI is facing significant pressure from sponsors and broadcasters to take part in the Asia Cup 2025. Broadcasters are particularly keen on an India vs Pakistan match, as it generates the highest revenue.

BCCI: In May 2025, border tensions flared between India and Pakistan, with the Indian Armed Forces conducting Operation Sindoor following the Pahalgam terror attack. These tensions also led to the suspension of IPL 2025 for about a week. Since then, many fans have called for a complete boycott of cricket matches against Pakistan.

The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to run from September 5 to September 21. Recently, the BCCI also postponed a white-ball series against Bangladesh to 2026 after the Indian government denied permission to travel there.
