Ashwin said, Ravindra Jadeja for India and Ben Stokes for England were fighting for their respective teams.

Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin shared a funny anecdote and told that his father Ravichandran thought that during the Lord’s Test, Mohammad Siraj would end the match by hitting three sixes. The third Test played between England and India at Lord’s was a very exciting match. The teams of England and India scored equal scores of 387 runs in their respective first innings.

In the second innings, England were all out for just 192 runs. This could have been an easy run chase for India. However, the target became difficult after the Indian batsmen lost wickets in quick succession.

India regained control of the game with the efforts of Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and the lower-order batsmen, but despite this, India lost the match by 22 runs. England captain Ben Stokes bowled a marathon spell and played a key role in helping the hosts win by a narrow margin.

Father thought Siraj would make us win – Ashwin

Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, “Ben Stokes bowled an incredible spell. I was talking to my father about this, he was confident that Siraj would end the match by hitting three sixes. I asked him to joke less. Seeing Ben Stokes, he started talking about a bowler from his league matches, who used to bowl from both ends.”

“In both spells of 9.2 and 10 overs, he was bowling at a speed of 132-140 kmph. On one end, Jadeja was standing like a fort and taking charge for India, while on the other side Stokes was doing the same thing for England”, he further said.

Ben Stokes may have scored only 77 runs in both innings, but the right-arm fast bowler took five wickets in the match, bowling two important spells of 9.2 and 10 overs. His bowling played an important role in keeping India under constant pressure, and led England to victory.
