In today’s fast changing work world, the role of Executive Virtual Assistant (EVA) has evolved. It is no longer just about handling small tasks, it is now a key role that helps executives and business owners work smarter. Earlier this year, I decided to level up and enrolled in an Executive Assistant course on Udemy click here. And honestly it has been one of the best decisions I have made in my career.
I expected to improve my admin skill but I gained much more confidence, tech know-how, and a clear understanding of how virtual assistants can make a real difference in the lives of people they support.
What Led Me to Take This Course
I have worked as a virtual assistant before, but I wanted to do more, offer real, high-level support to professionals who need it. With remote work becoming the norm, I saw an opportunity to grow and become a valuable asset.

One of the most exciting parts of the course was learning how to use tools like ChatGPT. These tools helped me:
Write polished emails and follow-ups
Quickly summarize meeting notes
Create content for blogs, social media and newsletters.
Find and organize useful information.
The biggest lesson? AI does not replace EVA’s, it helps get things done faster so we can focus on strategy and relationships. But the course also reminded us that AI is not perfect and real human judgment is still key.
Helping Clients Build Stronger Connections
A valuable insight I gained was learning how to support networking. As an EVA, I can:
Help clients find events and communities that matter
Write and send outreach emails and LinkedIn messages
Keep track of contacts and follow ups
Help share client’s knowledge and ideas online
I realized just how important it is to help clients stay visible and connected, without them having to chase it all themselves.

Efficiency is everything when working remotely. The course showed me how to set up tools and systems that makes things run smoothly, like:
Task management (Trello, Asana, Notion)
Contact and communication tracking
Calendar syncing and reminders
SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) to keep things consistent
Being an Executive Virtual Assistant is not just about doing the work, it is about building systems that keep everything running, even when things get busy.
What Makes An Executive Virtual Assistant Different
A regular virtual assistant might just follow a task list. But an EVA:
Thinks ahead and solves problems before they happen

That is the shift I experienced during this course. I am now confident in positioning myself not just as a helper, but as a true partner in my clients success.
What Is Next For Me
Now that I have finished the course, I am building a portfolio that shows everything I can do. I am using tools like Calendly and Grammarly, and putting together service packages tailored for busy professionals who need someone they can rely on.
In the future, I hope to launch my own Virtual Assistant agency, offering specialized support in industries like tech, real estate, coaching and more.
