First Blog

How’s it going? This is my first blog for this platform! I am excited to share a lot of things to you!
My name is Alexis Pineda, as of now I am a software engineer, having the passion to build things and help people solve problems, whether it be through tech or in real-life, one day at a time. I am pursuing to be a Solutions Architect, in which I can help a lot of businesses be rock-solid and be production-grade ready.
I now have 5 years of professional experience within the field, 8 years in total since I earlier pursued web development 3 years prior to my professional life. I am still delighted and content that I made it this far, enough for me to share what I have learned in my experiences as a Software Engineer.
📝Why take on writing?
I’ve always wondered:
What’s next for me after this?
What should I learn now?
How should I take advantage of everything I’ve learned today?
What should I build?
Where should I work?
They don’t stop there. The conundrums linger. The mental perspiration is in play. The questions branch into more questions. I figured I have to write them all down for me to leave traces, hoping it would reach out to other people with the process of me having to gather feedbacks as well.
For these past few years, I have gravitated towards building projects through front-end and worked on back-end projects on the side, aiming to become a full-stack developer. I also like to learn more new things by writing also with the hopes of having to amplifying it for a short period of time while technology today is becoming what it is today at a rapid rate.
Even in my years of my professional experience, each day goes by I still feel like I’m a beginner when it comes to things tech-related. Having to be in this industry is way different than the others, since there’s always news about tech updates, trends, new tools, strategies, workflows, it’s really hard to keep up and it’s ACTUALLY normal. You are not alone in this.
I feel like I wanted to share my journey this time going forward and help others reach their goals as well. Writing these down helps, not just anybody out there, but it helps me as well since it will always feel like I’m teaching myself new things and get myself back in shape.
💡Why I focused more on web and mobile applications?
It’s quick. Change one line, results appear in real time.
It’s also easy. Open a file through notepad and change a single line of code.
It’s boundless. You can literally do anything you want. You can toy around the elements through the browser’s built-in dev tools by changing the values within.
It’s community-driven. There’s also a huge number of people treading through the same path as you do anywhere in the world.
I remember many years back when I first learned HTML and created a website for the first time as our activity in high-school. It really felt good the first time and the reward it brought really hit me in a different way among other things in our school. The way you can add colors to the components via HTML attributes, change the fonts within, manipulate the content and spacing and layouts; I fell in love because of it.
There came CSS and JS years later. I wasn’t able to learn about them at the time I was learning HTML back in high-school. I only learned it years later when I started taking an IT course. I fell in love with them even more. The way you can style the cards anyway you want without having to use the html attributes each time and animate them via JS and make them functional, it was a wholesome experience for me.
🧠What am I learning now?
Right now I’m learning a couple of things:
Monorepos (e.g. Turbo) - Basically you have a set of sub-projects in a single project. What I love about this one is that you can create as many internal packages as you want, whether it’d be your own components, your collection of assets that you want to share in different apps, or a package containing a set of configurations, a build system like Turbo does that job for you.
AI and AI agents - I’m leaning towards Groq AI, since currently I couldn’t afford any OpenAI’s subscriptions. It’s all in the rave now and I’m learning more on this one, hoping it can be utilized to any future projects that I will take on.
Backend Optimizations and Security - Now I know how I can build REST apis and create tons of routes for my projects, I felt like I want to focus more on how I can make an API call load more data without having to affect the performance and the duration it takes to get the data I’m looking for.
Architecture Strategies - Of course it’s easy to build your own projects, but what happens if it scales into an enterprise level? I’d like to be armed to the teeth when it comes to this one, paving the way for potential features that will help gain more revenue to the project/company.
🤔What you will see in my blogs
My honest thought process towards the stuff I encounter
Short breakdowns of what I understood (how it can also be combated)
How I should learn and be understanding it (this can be optional)
Personal quotes (maybe some in Filipino language 😄)
Honest takes, maybe looking more like a diary or a journal
My final thoughts
Thank you for making it this far! I’d like to see where this goes in my journey to writing and coding! I felt the need to write also after reading Rahul Raj’s post about his first blog post, not because it’s required for us to do so but maybe I think it’s time for me to start on this one as well and share my experiences towards others who are struggling as well.
Let’s learn together, one line at a time! 😊
