Self discovery

This week surprised me in a good way. I expected to start with technical topics, but the focus was on me, who I am, what I value, and how I learn. These are things I haven't taken time to reflect on before. I took three tests: The VIA Character Strengths test, 16Personalities, and the learning style test.
My top 5 values
Curiosity, Bravery, Fairness, Hope, and Appreciation of beauty.
I couldn’t agree more.
My personality type (INTP-A)
As an INTP-A (Introverted Intuitive Thinking Perceiving - Assertive), I am an innovative inventor with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. I am a flexible thinker and enjoy approaching life unconventionally, often seeking out unlikely paths.
I discovered my strengths: being analytical, original, open-minded, curious, and honest. My weaknesses include disconnecting from others, being insensitive, dissatisfaction (always finding loopholes and wanting to reinvent), overthinking, and impatience.
You can take your personality test here, too.
Learning Style (Auditory - INTP)
As an auditory learner, I want to understand how things are put together, how they work, and how that structure is helping the process. I thrive on in-depth scenarios and big-picture topics, always wanting to grasp why and how everything works. I want to explore, study, and understand the basic parts of an issue. I enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together to understand why they were set up that way in the first place.
These insights made me reflect deeply. I began to understand why I react the way I do, why some things drain or excite me, and how I can stop hindering my growth. I want financial freedom, I want to help people, I want to build things that matter — but I can’t get there if I don’t understand and work with who I am.
So these coming weeks, I have decided to:
Be more intentional with my growth
Improve my communication
Build consistency
Start taking leadership roles
Learn the right way
Additionally, we’ve initiated a new project — a Learning Management System (LMS). I'll write more about that next week since we've only worked on admin authentication so far. We'll discuss the technology stack, my approach, my implementations, and all the important details.
I’m already seeing how this self-awareness will help me show up better in any team I will find myself in.
Week 1 has been eye-opening. I know myself a little better than I did last week, and that's a good thing.
I am very grateful to Azubi Africa for this training (Azubi Talent Mobility Program). Just this week, I've come up with many ideas on how I can make changes to improve my life and work towards the future I want.
