The team selectors and captain have to find the key players of the team and make the team stronger by discussing their strengths individually.

Former Indian cricket team coach Greg Chappell has praised Shubman Gill and advised him to become a better leader and communicate as a captain. He also said that leadership is not only strong with the performance of the bat. Although Gill has performed well as a captain in the Test series between England and India, India is still trailing 1-2 in the five-match series.

A great captain is always a great communicator: Chappell

Shubman Gill

Greg Chappell, while emphasizing on success, said that a champion team will not be made just by good batting performance. He told Gill that it is important to create a strong team culture and talk to each player about their performance like a leader.

Greg Chappell wrote in his column on ESPN Cricinfo that, “A great captain is always a great communicator. Shubman needs to become one soon. Whether it is during training, playing or in the dressing room, he should communicate with his players calmly and directly. He cannot always speak only with his batting performance. He will have to learn the language that unites the team.”

A reliable team has to be made

Greg further said that Gill should make his reliable core team and the players included in it should be clearly told their definite roles. Both the selectors and Gill have to make a clear plan together.

Players should know what is expected from them, and what is their place in the team. In unsuccessful teams, players often decide for themselves what they have to do, but such uncertainty does not work at this level.

Well, now it will be worth seeing how the Indian team is going to perform in the match starting from July 23 at Old Trafford Manchester?
