Downloading songs from Spotify is a simple and convenient way to enjoy your favorite music offline—whether you're on the go, saving data, or just avoiding interruptions. However, it's important to note that the download feature is only available to users with a Spotify Premium subscription. If you’re a Premium user, you can easily save albums, playlists, and even podcasts for offline listening. Below is a step-by-step guide tailored specifically for Premium members to help you get started with downloading content on Spotify.

Step 1: Get Spotify Premium

On this page, you’ll find a variety of Premium plans to help you choose the one that best fits your needs. Once you've signed up for a Spotify Premium account, simply follow the steps below for either desktop or mobile listening. Enjoy your music—anytime, anywhere!

Step 2:📱 On Mobile (iOS or Android)

1. Open the Spotify App

  • Sign in with your Premium account.

2. Find a Playlist or Album

  • You cannot download individual songs directly, but you can add individual songs to a playlist you create on your own. To do this, you need to click on the “+” at the bottom of your app.

Once you've named and created your own playlist, you can add any song from any album or existing playlist. Alternatively, you can download full albums from your favorite artists or pre-made playlists curated by Spotify.

3. Tap the Download Toggle

  • Go to the playlist or album you want to download.

  • Tap the downward arrow icon or click on the “…” to access the menu and select “Download to this device.”

  • Spotify will download the tracks and show a green arrow next to them when done.

4. Check Your Library

  • If everything has been done correctly, you should be able to find the album or playlist in your library with the green arrow icon next to it. You can repeat these same steps for your created playlist or a Spotify curated one.

5. Go Offline (Optional)

  • To listen to downloaded music offline, go to:

    • Settings > Data-saving and offline > Offline mode.

    • Turn Offline mode on

Just be sure to go back online within 29 days and always leave the Offline Access option On. Turning this off will remove your downloaded music.

Step 3: 💻 On Desktop (Windows/Mac)

1. Open the Spotify App

  • Log in with your Premium account.

2. Navigate to a Playlist or Album

  • Just like mobile, individual songs can't be downloaded—add them to a playlist first.

  • To do this, click “Create”

Reminder, you only need to do this step if you want to download individual songs. An existing artists' album or curated Spotify playlist only needs to be downloaded.

3. Click the “Download” Button

  • Find the album or playlist you want to download

  • Tap the downward arrow icon or click on the “…” to access the menu and select “Download to this device.”

  • Once downloaded, you’ll see a green icon next to songs. The album will also appear in Your Library at this point.

Note: Offline listening on desktop is limited to downloaded playlists and albums—no individual track downloads. You do not need to engage offline mode. When offline your downloaded Albums or Playlist will appear in your library.

❗ Important Notes

  • You can only download on up to 5 devices.

  • You must go online at least once every 29 days to keep downloads.

  • Downloaded files are encrypted—you cannot move or play them outside Spotify.

Happy listening!
