Joe Root has been outstanding with the bat in the ongoing series against India. The England batter has consistently delivered impressive performances in test cricket over the past few years. He has continued his rich vein of form in the current five-match test series against India.
In the previous match at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London, Root scored a brilliant century. He carried that momentum into the fourth test at Old Trafford, Manchester, where he played a superb half-century, putting significant pressure on the Indian side.
Additionally, Joe Root achieved a major milestone by becoming the third-highest run-scorer in test cricket history.
Joe Root’s old tweet about Sachin Tendulkar resurfaces and goes viral
Having surpassed Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid to claim the third spot on the all-time Test run-scorers list, Joe Root now trails only Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar. Given his current form, it’s likely he could soon overtake both legends.
As Joe Root chases Tendulkar’s record for the most Test runs, a tweet he posted years ago has gained renewed attention. The England batter shared it around the time of Tendulkar’s retirement, reflecting on how their careers overlapped.
He wrote: “Sachin made his debut for India before I was born. Then played in my Test debut.”

Joe Root has surpassed Ricky Ponting in the list of batters with the most fifty-plus scores in Test cricket. The right-handed batsman now boasts 104 scores of fifty or more, placing him second only to Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record with 119 such innings.
In the current series, Root has already scored over 300 runs, including two fifties and a century. Given his impressive form in the ongoing match, he appears poised to notch another century in the series.
