Why I Use Laravel Over Other Frameworks

Laravel has been my main web development framework since 2014. After working on dozens of large-scale projects across industries and tech stacks, here’s why I continue to choose Laravel — every single time.

My Journey with Laravel — Key Experiences

  • 2014 – My First Laravel Project (Sports Site)

I moved from CodeIgniter to Laravel for a sports website project. I started from scratch, and Laravel’s clean structure and helpful documentation made the learning smooth.

  • 2015 – Tour Booking System for Italy & Vatican

I built a Laravel backend with APIs to send data (timings, prices, availability) to multiple WordPress-based frontends. This taught me how powerful Laravel can be as a backend service layer.

  • 2015 – A Setback: CodeIgniter Project Too Large to Migrate

One of my major CodeIgniter projects continued in CI because of the cost and risk of switching. It reminded me that Laravel is ideal for new builds — but migration needs business alignment.

  • 2019 – Internal Portal for 90,000+ Real Estate Agents

As part of a team led by a senior engineer, I developed drag-and-drop widgets, dynamic forms, and document sharing tools using Laravel. We focused on performance and usability.

  • 2021 – Legal Services Platform for 50,000+ U.S. Clients

Under a project manager, I built pixel-perfect UIs and optimized Livewire tables to handle millions of records with fast filtering and pagination. Laravel scaled beautifully.

  • 2021 – Real-Time Health Counselling System (Australia)

I used Livewire, Alpine.js, and Tailwind CSS to build a video-based health platform with a collaborative editor for patients and families. It was one of the most modern stacks in the Australian market.

  • 2022–Present – ECU Tech SaaS for 15,000+ Businesses Worldwide

My biggest Laravel project yet. Built a global platform using Laravel, React, APIs, encryption tools, payment gateways, and complex data handling. Key achievements:

    • Built secure ECU file encryption/decryption logic

    • Created custom support system and user activity logging

    • Added Stripe, Viva, and PayPal integrations with location-based tax logic

    • Managed offline hours and auto-vacation tracking

    • Flare integration for live error monitoring

    • Switched from slow Livewire tables to custom AJAX DataTables — for lightning-fast, filterable views

    • Added engineer auto-assignment and fallback email alerts

Starting My Open Source Journey

I’m planning to start contributing to open-source Laravel projects like BookStack and Monica. These projects are well-structured and inspiring. My goal is to improve my skills, understand how large applications are built and maintained, and prepare myself for bigger opportunities — whether that’s landing a role at a great company or building my own product someday.

Why I Choose Laravel Again and Again

  • Simple to Start: Clean folder structure, Blade templates, and clear docs.

  • Comes with Powerful Features: Auth, mail, queue, cache, and APIs — out of the box.

  • Eloquent ORM: Makes working with databases elegant and readable.

  • Great for Teams: MVC structure improves code sharing and collaboration.

  • Massive Community: Answers, packages, tutorials — help is everywhere.

  • Modern Tools: Easy integration with Livewire, Inertia, Alpine.js, React, and Vue.
