My Journey at J.P. Morgan Chase’s Code for Good 2025: A Weekend to Remember

Welcome back to The Nerdy Nook, where I usually talk about code, tech stacks, and debugging nightmares. But today? Let’s hit pause on the tutorials and talk about an unforgettable experience my journey at the J.P. Morgan Chase Code for Good 2025 Hackathon.
Although my team and I didn't win the trophy, this hackathon gave me something much more valuable: teamwork, sleepless laughs, and lessons that no classroom could ever teach.
How it Started
This journey kicked off with an email from the placement cell about J.P. Morgan Chase’s flagship hackathon, Code for Good 2025.
The selection process was no cakewalk. It began with an online assessment that tested aptitude, coding, and problem-solving skills. After clearing that, there was an AI-based video interview, where I had to answer a series of timed questions while being evaluated on communication and thought process.
A few days later, I received the golden mail, I was selected for the Mumbai leg of the hackathon. And just like my Morgan Stanley journey, I was once again the only person from my campus to make it through! ( lightning really does strike twice 😎 )
That mix of excitement and nervousness hit hard as I stepped into the JPMC Towers in Mumbai at 12 PM on D-Day ready for an experience that I just knew was going to be unforgettable.
🤝 The Team & The Kickoff
I was soon joined by my teammates : Sairam, Mihir, Shreyasi, Nityashri,Kunal, Aniketh and some of the most talented and supportive folks I could’ve asked for.
After registration, we were escorted to the cafeteria. And trust me, JPMC hackathons aren’t called "Code for Food" without reason. The lunch spread was incredible, and it instantly set the tone, this was going to be special.
The orientation began with three NGOs presenting their problem statements. We had exactly one minute to pick our choice, and we unanimously went with Shatam Care Foundation’s problem statement, building a platform to manage caregivers and caretakers online.
🚀 The Grind Begins
Once assigned our mentors (who were absolute legends!), we were escorted to the hackathon floor and let me tell you, JPMC Towers is out of this world. The vibe screamed innovation.
We locked ourselves in a focus room and started outlining the idea, defining the tech stack, and splitting responsibilities.
I handled the backend along with Mihir and Sairam, while Shreyasi and Aniketh took charge of the AI features, and Nityashri and Kunal worked their frontend magic.
From brainstorming sessions to debugging marathons, from late-night snacks to PS5 breaks, it was an all-nighter like no other. There were mentors constantly checking in, guiding us, and even bringing in goodies and certificates mid-hackathon (which we barely noticed because we were too deep in code 😅).
🛠️ What We Built
Our solution was built for Shatam Care Foundation with the mission of helping the elderly get trusted caregivers.
Key features included:
✅ AI-powered caregiver matching
✅ Real-time feedback and SOS alerts
✅ Training and certification modules for caregivers
✅ A WhatsApp bot for easy access in low-bandwidth areas
🎤 Judgement Day
By 8 AM, sleep deprivation was at its peak, but so was our excitement. We were Team 20, and Sairam absolutely nailed our presentation.
Unfortunately, only two teams per problem statement made it to the finals—and we weren’t among them.
But there were no regrets. We gave 200%, pushed our limits, and delivered a product we were proud of.
🌟 Final Thoughts
Hackathons like these aren’t just about code they’re about collaboration, resilience, and the joy of building under pressure.
From unlimited food and fun to friendships that will last far longer than a single project, Code for Good 2025 was an experience I’ll cherish forever.
Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. 💙

"A Web Developer by Day, Debugger by Night, and Tech Enthusiast Always!" Hi! I’m Anshul Sharma, a pre-final year BE-CSE student with a knack for building cool stuff on the web. With a CGPA of 9.43/10 (because numbers matter!) and hands-on experience leading teams in hackathons and group projects, I thrive at the intersection of creativity and logic. I’m passionate about Web Development, diving deep into the MERN Stack, Next.js, and dreaming of integrating AI into my future projects. Some of my proud creations include Trips & Memories, Mine-Tube-IO, Get-Me-A-Chai, and a Learning Management System that landed in the top 5 of its kind. As a Campus Ambassador for HackerEarth and an active member of the GDSC Web Domain, I love bridging the gap between students and the tech industry, organizing events, and helping others find their passion for coding. When I’m not coding or sipping chai, you’ll find me exploring Data Structures and Algorithms (C, C++, and Java are my tools of choice) or geeking out over new web technologies. Let’s build something awesome together! 🚀
