đ The Fall of Google? OR The Rise of a New Internet?

Hey everyone, welcome back!
In the last blog, we decoded WhatsApp encryption. Today, weâre stepping into something bigger;
The possible fall of Google..
Guys, let's be honest.. what kind of people are we? We're the kind of people who open Google and literally search for "Google." Yeah, that's us. Because for us, the internet is Google, and Google is the internet.
But now, Google is starting to fall. Yes, that same Google is now on a path to destruction...
The End of Google?
Google is a monopoly in the search engine space. How? Because Google has absolutely no competition.
But, that's not the case anymore!!
For the first time in its history, Google has seen a decline. Meaning, it has dropped below its 90% market share. Now, don't get me wrong, it didn't drop way below 90%, but it did fall below 90% (to 89.7%)...
Alright, so if you look at what percentage it dropped by, was it 10%, 20%, or 30%?
Nope... just 0.50%.
And now you're probably thinking, "Heyyy, you're saying Google is going to be destroyed over just 0.50% drop?"
Yes. And here's why it matters..
That 0.50% is not a small thing like you think. Do you know what this 0.50% means? It means 82 million searches vanished in a single day... The entire population of Tamil Nadu is just 8 crores (80 million). 82 million is 8.2 crores. So what does that mean? It means like a whole Tamil Nadu has disappeared from Google's map.
And if you take a whole month, that's 2.46 billion searches. Its like, the entire country of India has vanished from Google's map. Do you get how serious this matter is now? And many tech experts are saying this is The Beginning of the End & The Start of a New Kind of Internet. And who are these 'tech experts,' you ask? Well, it's none other than... ME! (haha.. just joking..) I have attached some research articles below for your reference.
I mean... in the early days, the internet world was just a Full of URLs, Ports, and you had to go from website to website. There were no search engines.
You guys know this. How did you used to download movies and songs even from the pirated websites, right? Only after that did this thing called Google become known to everyone. But it wasn't like that before.
At first, we had to remember the exact url.com, search for it, go inside, and then use the website. For example, âwww.anniyan.comâ. Then what happened? After this "search engine" concept arrived, if I wanted something, I'd just do a Google search and get a set of websites would appear. Even then, we treated Google as just a website for finding other websites. Correct? Not only that, we search for Google on Google. You open the browser, it opens Google, everyone knows that.. But then we'd still type "google.com" in the search bar, go to that link, and then search again. So Google was the gateway to the internet.
Before this, there were others like Yahoo. But why did Yahoo fail?
Because Google was the very first to introduce a concept called the "Ranking Algorithm."
Because the ranking algorithm worked so well, the websites we actually needed started appearing on the first page. So Google was way better than Yahoo.
And that's not all...
After this, The Mobile Era arrived.
In the mobile space too, Google got Android in its grip and started becoming a big shot there as well.
"But Apple doesn't have Android, so how did it get in there?" you ask. Well, google pays billions of dollars just to keep Google search as Safariâs default search engine.
That's how it has stayed at number one with 90% of the market... but not anymore, it has dropped below 90%...
When I did some research on why it dropped, the reason became clear.
It's something everyone knows... CHATGPT....
Okay.. let me ask you something. How many of you still go and check Wikipedia? Who here still uses Wikipedia? Even until about 5 years ago, everyone was using Wikipedia. But now, most people don't use it at all.
Have you ever think that, "Why don't we use Wikipedia anymore?" Why did we even go to Wikipedia?
For example:
If you search "Who is 5th president of India" on Google, the very first result would be the Wikipedia page. We'd click it, go inside, and then we'd know the answer. That was the routine.
But now, it's not necessary to click on the Wikipedia page. Why? Because Google search has started using a new technique called an "AI snippet" (or "SGE" - Search Generative Experience). That AI snippet just tells you the president's name, with the date and all the data right there. After this, why would I need to go to Wikipedia? Why should I check other articles? I don't need to go anywhere.
This is good for us, right?
It might be good for us, but it's not good for Google.
Before, Google would charge money to decide whose name to put first in the ranking algorithm.
For example, if you search for "Wikipedia" on Google, Wikipedia is already running at a loss, so they won't pay. Suddenly, if someone else comes and says, "I'll pay," and pays the money... their webpage will show up first... That's one way.
Another way Google makes money is through webpage Ads. That is, on webpages like articles pages, news pages, sports webpages, etc.
For example...
If you search "Who is 5th president of India" on Google and go to other websites, they'll have the same data and answers. But along with that, the page will be filled with ads here and there.
Because of these ads, it's not just the website that earns money. Google also takes a commission.
But now that this thing called ChatGPT has come along, people and users just find their answers there and leave. So what did Google do? It started providing its own AI snippets in the Google search using AI. But because of that, Google's revenue started getting cut. Why? Because the AI snippet led to more "Zero-Click" Users. What does a "Zero-Click" User mean? It means users search on Google but never click on anything. If they don't click, Google gets no money at all. In the name of competing with ChatGPT, Google basically shot itself. This is why Google's revenue is also gone...
So now, Google's users are decreasing. At the same time, Google's revenue is decreasing. And in Google search, instead of clicking on websites, users are just seeing the solution via AI snippets and leaving. So, all these are Google's problems... i.e., Google Search's problems.
Is this only a problem for Google Search? Not at all. It means that globally, the internet itself is getting ready for the next BIG change. We shouldn't see this as just one company's problem. We have a problem too. And what is that problem? It's "The Death-Loop."
So what is "The Death-Loop" theory?
You see all these AI models, right? Like ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, Gemini... where do they get their data from? Obviously, it comes from the internet. And how does the internet get its data? Some guy sits somewhere and writes articles on the internet. Why does he write? Because he gets paid for writing. How does he get paid? There's something called Google Ads. If we embed our website link in it, Google will place ads on our website. You'll see ad banners here and there on websites. When a user sees them or clicks on them to buy products, you get paid, just like how they pay on YouTube. But the truth is, they pay more on websites than on YouTube. That's the reality. Because they can earn this much money, people spend time sitting and writing articles.
But now, because of this new internet trend, Google has brought AI snippets, and things like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot have arrived. What will happen because of this? Nobody reads articles anymore. If this continues, the count of people creating articles globally will keep decreasing. As it decreases, the motivation of these article writers will also drop because if the writer doesn't get paid, he'll think, "Why should I do this?" and just leave. If they leave, there will be no new data to feed to AI models like ChatGPT.
If there's no data to feed them, no matter what you search for, it will just keep telling you the same old things over and over again. We will never get any new data. So, this is the "AI DEADLOOP".
After some time, "the dead internet theory" will become real, there will be no new content, no organic content on the internet. It will be full of inorganic content and bots. This will happen in a short while.
The Dead Internet Theory:
Everybody have a mobile, so Everyone uploads content, reacts to it, likes, engagement, and so on. We keep using it among ourselves. This is the internet, specifically social media. But everything I just mentioned is what we do organically. But is the current trend like that? Absolutely not.. The bigger thing is that all of this is humans acting like bots, performing tasks given to many people. But actually, there are more bots than humans on the internet. A bot means, It just an algorithm. As of 2024, If we look at social media, approximately 40 to 50% are bots compared to humans. What I'm actually trying to say is that many of the comments, likes, views, even much of the content, profiles, and even propaganda you see, are things done by bots or by gangs paid to do them. This is gradually increasing, and eventually, the internet itself will become 'dead'. That's what this theory is about
Finally... Google's market share decreasing isn't the main problem. The problem is the search engine's overall market share decreases.
The count of people reading articles decreasing is also a problem. That will only lead to the dead internet theory, which will give way the the deadloop. This is techies conspiracy theory.
What am I trying to say with all this?
â> A shop can only exist if there are customers to buy things.
â> Both of them can only get products if there's a supplier for the shopkeeper.
â> And for the supplier to exist, there has to be someone who manufactures the goods.
This isnât about saving Google, itâs about saving the Open Web..
So, what do we understand from all this? Absolutely nothing! Okay guys, if you liked this blog, make sure to come and read my next blog too. Because if you don't read it, the dead internet theory will become real. Then I won't come and write blogs anymore, an AI will take over. So, make sure to read the next blog!
The âAI Death Loop" and âDead Internetâ Theory
The Vicious Cycle:
AI Snippets & Chatbots â Users skip websites â Publisher ads revenue collapses..
Publishers halt content creation â AI models lack fresh data â Output quality decaysâŠ
Decaying AI content floods the web â Human content is displaced â "Dead Internet" emergesâŠ
Evidence of "Death Internet":
Bot Dominance: 49.6% of 2023 internet traffic was bots & AI, scraping data or generating spam.
AI-Generated Content: Viral sense & nonsense (e.g., "Singer Narendra Modi" reels videos with AI) symbolizes the synthetic web.
Training Data Crisis: Future AI may rely on AI-generated content, causing "model collapse" (e.g., hallucinations, repetitive outputs).
