Facing Reality: Why Relapse Remains the Hidden Crisis

A recent 2025 U.S. study reminds us of something we see every day: relapse rates in recovery can vary widely anywhere from 37% to 91%, depending on the substance, the treatment setting, and co-occurring mental health conditions. These numbers aren’t just statistics to us they represent real families, real heartbreak, and the fragile hope that recovery brings.
Who We Are: G3 Recovery Interventions & Consulting
At G3 Recovery Interventions & Consulting, based in Austin, Texas, we meet families in some of their most difficult moments. Founded by Matt and Hannah Gibson both of us in long-term recovery ourselves we’ve built our mission around one belief: healing doesn’t happen in isolation.
We know the wreckage addiction leaves behind. We’ve lived it. And we’ve dedicated our lives to walking with individuals and families as they rebuild connection, accountability, and trust.
Our Voices
Matt often reflects:
“Since getting sober, God has blessed me with a life better than anything I could’ve dreamed of… Before recovery, I was homeless, hopeless, and exhausted. Through the 12 steps, I’ve turned my dark past into a story of hope.”
And Hannah adds:
“Recovery isn’t just about the individual it’s about the family as a whole. We hold hands together.”
These aren’t just words. They’re the foundation of how we work with empathy, transparency, and an unwavering belief in what’s possible.
Our Holistic Model
We’ve designed our services to create lasting change, not quick fixes:
Intervention & Family ConsultingWe lead respectful, family-inclusive interventions that focus on healing relationships, rebuilding communication, and setting a new path forward.
Recovery Coaching & Case Management
We stay engaged long after the initial intervention, offering personalized coaching and ongoing support to help clients stay grounded in recovery.Structured Sober Living
Our gender-specific homes in Austin provide a safe, accountable environment, grounded in a 12-Step framework with curfews, testing, meetings, and mentorship from our leadership team.Sober Transport Services
We offer compassionate, reliable transportation to treatment when the logistics and emotions of crisis feel overwhelming.
In our most recent review, we saw over 60% of clients enter treatment within their first week and success rates of up to 96% within six months a striking contrast to the relapse variability seen in the broader recovery landscape.
Why This Matters
Relapse isn’t failure it’s a sign that someone needs deeper connection, structure, and support. Research and our own lived experience tell us the same story: without long-term engagement, family involvement, and personalized case management, recovery remains precarious.
That’s why our model goes beyond stopping substance use. It’s about rebuilding identity, restoring relationships, and sustaining healing for the long haul.
Bringing Hope Back Home
The issue is urgent: relapse rates remain alarmingly high, and entire families bear the weight. We’re here to change that. By weaving together interventions, coaching, sober living, and family involvement, we transform good intentions into real, sustained recovery.
