Promoting an online store can be quite costly — especially if you focus solely on organic traffic and completely avoid ads. However, achieving success in SEO without high-quality content and a clear strategy is nearly impossible. In this article, I’ll share my hands-on experience of promoting a commercial website in the home textile niche and focus only on methods that truly work.

Keywords as the foundation of traffic generation

People search for products online by entering specific words or phrases into a search engine. These words are called “keywords.” But if the queries are highly competitive, it becomes very difficult to get traffic from them. So, while promoting my home textiles website, I focused on long-tail, medium-frequency keywords. These queries may attract fewer searches, but they offer a real opportunity to drive conversions.

I use the following resources for keyword research: Google Trends, AnswerThePublic, and Keyword Tool. Among the most common mid-frequency search queries for an online home textiles store are: natural bed linen, home textiles, bathroom towels, and tablecloths. The most important thing is to identify who your customer is, their age and interests. Only then will you be able to analyze what they are searching for online.

High-quality content as the foundation of SEO promotion

In SEO promotion, it is very important for the content to be unique. This applies to both product descriptions and images. Each page should have a unique title and relevant subheadings optimized for keywords. This way, you can avoid content duplication, which search engines penalize by lowering the page’s ranking in search results.

The main promotion strategy for my online store is creating a blog. The store is built on the WordPress platform, which allows for writing articles to generate high-quality content. If you want to choose this promotion strategy for your online store, write articles on topics that interest your potential customers and address their pain points and problems. This is the only way to attract targeted traffic to your website. Trust that, over time, informational traffic will convert into commercial traffic.

Internal links play a huge role in SEO promotion because they directly improve navigation and simplify the search process. To increase clicks between articles, insert links. This way, you'll generate additional traffic from one article to another, which helps increase the overall time users spend on your site and improves behavioral metrics. Internal links from articles to product categories and vice versa are especially useful. They help boost the page's authority in the eyes of search engines and generate additional traffic.

Optimizing Images on a Website as an SEO Strategy

Search engines cannot see how products look. For example, Google analyzes bed linen, pillows, and blankets only based on their alt texts. That is why it is important to properly describe the product shown in the photo, including its color and material, while incorporating relevant keywords. Name each photo by adding keywords. This will increase the chances of the image ranking high in search engine results. Use TinyPNG to compress images. This prevents page overload and speeds up your website’s loading time, especially on mobile devices.

Conclusion

Content and SEO strategy do not guarantee instant results. This method of website promotion requires consistent effort and a great deal of patience. Keep working hard, and the results will definitely come.
