Lessons From a Burnt Wick: Why Mistakes Make Better Makers🕯️

Hey dreamers 👋
A fun fact no one tells you when you start pouring candles: you will ruin A LOT of wicks.
The first time my entire batch drowned, I almost quit. The wax tunneled, the scent vanished, my workspace smelled like burnt cotton. Not cute.
🌱 But here’s the thing: mistakes are teachers.
In candle making and in business, you only learn by messing up:
Pour too hot? Cracks.
Pour too cold? Frosting.
Wrong wick? Mushrooming.
Same with your side hustle, your product, your code — your midnight idea. Messy drafts shape the final thing.
💡 Failure = Feedback
Now, every burnt wick reminds me: adjust the temperature, test the size, change the oil blend. Tiny pivots build trust — with the product and with myself.
✨ Imperfect but Glowing
If you’re waiting to get it perfect before you launch — stop. Burn the wick. Make the mess. Learn. Fix it at 2AM if you have to.
Because the light you’re after comes through the cracks.
