Stop Uploading Your Photos to Random Converters. Do This Instead:

A few months ago, I needed to quickly convert some HEIC photos from my iPhone to JPG. I googled “free HEIC to JPG converter,” clicked the first link I saw, and started uploading my photos.

That’s when it hit me: “Wait… where are these photos actually going?”

I realized I had no idea what happened to my images after I hit “upload.” Sure, the site converted them for me, but for all I knew, they could’ve stored my private photos on some random server. And let’s be honest, we all have pictures on our phones that we don’t want strangers to see.

This isn’t just paranoia. Many free online tools process your files on their servers. Some even save them (read the fine print), and if those servers are ever hacked, your files are at risk.

As someone who cares about privacy and simplicity, I decided there had to be a better way.

I wanted a solution where:

  • My photos never leave my computer.

  • The conversion happens instantly, no waiting for uploads.

  • No paywalls, limits, or weird ads.

So I built FreeImageConvert.site, a free, privacy-first image converter that runs 100% in your browser.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Open FreeImageConvert in your browser.

  2. Drag and drop your images (HEIC, PNG, WebP, JPG…).

  3. The tool converts them instantly, right on your device.

  4. Download your converted files.

Because it doesn’t upload anything to a server, your photos stay completely private. And since there’s no uploading or downloading from a remote server, it’s lightning fast, even for 50+ images at once.
