England vs India, 5th Test Day 1: India 204/6
Karun Nair’s belligerent half-century helped India reach 204 for 6 at stumps on the first day of the fifth and final Test against England at the Kennington Oval in London. Sai Sudharsan also helped India with a 38-run knock but the rest of the Indian batsmen failed to put up a noticeable knock in overcast conditions that saw England pacers dominate the innings.
Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue took two wickets each while Chris Woakes picked up one. Due to rain interruptions, only 64 overs of play were possible on the first day after England’s stand-in skipper Ollie Pope won the toss and opted to bowl first. Karun Nair (52 not out) and Washington Sundar (19 not out) were at the crease for India when the umpires called for stumps. England is in a bit of trouble after Chris Woakes got injured in the 57th over. He is suspected to have suffered a shoulder bone injury.
