How to download Spotify songs on Windows PC

Downloading music from Spotify on your Windows PC is a simple and effective way to ensure your favorite playlists, albums, and podcasts are always within reach—even when you’re offline. Whether you're working, gaming, or just relaxing without an internet connection, having your music downloaded offers a smooth and uninterrupted experience. This feature is only available to users with a Spotify Premium subscription. If you’re a Premium member, you can use the Spotify desktop app for Windows to easily download and enjoy your content anytime, anywhere.
Step 1: Get Spotify Premium
You will need an active Spotify Premium subscription.
Subscribe at: https://www.spotify.com/premium
On this page, you’ll find a variety of Premium plans to help you choose the one that best fits your needs. Once you've signed up for a Spotify Premium account, simply follow the steps below for either desktop or mobile listening. Enjoy your music—anytime, anywhere!
Step 2: 💻 On Desktop (PC)
1. Open the Spotify App
- Log in with your Premium account.
2. Navigate to a Playlist or Album
Just like mobile, individual songs can't be downloaded—add them to a playlist first.
To do this, click “Create”
Reminder, you only need to do this step if you want to download individual songs. An existing artists' album or curated Spotify playlist only needs to be downloaded.
3. Click the “Download” Button
Find the album or playlist you want to download
Tap the downward arrow icon or click on the “…” to access the menu and select “Download to this device.”
Once downloaded, you’ll see a green icon next to songs. The album will also appear in Your Library at this point.
Note: Offline listening on desktop is limited to downloaded playlists and albums—no individual track downloads. You do not need to engage offline mode. When offline your downloaded Albums or Playlist will appear in your library.
❗ Important Notes
You can only download on up to 5 devices.
You must go online at least once every 29 days to keep downloads.
Downloaded files are encrypted—you cannot move or play them outside Spotify.
Happy listening!

Spotify doesn't legally allow downloads without Premium. If you see "free Spotify downloaders," they usually violate Spotify's terms and may be unsafe or illegal.
