The England series held added emotional weight as it marked the end of an era. Ravichandran Ashwin had already bid farewell during the Australia tour, while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their Test retirements just ahead of the England series selection.

With a major leadership transition underway, Shubman Gill was handed the captaincy — a trial by fire in foreign conditions. India began the series with a defeat at Headingley, but Gill’s captaincy soon found its rhythm. India made history with their first-ever Test win at Edgbaston. After a hard-fought loss at Lord’s and a gritty draw in Manchester, they sealed a memorable comeback with a victory at The Oval, finishing the series at 2-2.

When is Team India’s Next International Cricket Match?

The Indian Cricket Team was originally scheduled to tour Bangladesh in August 2025 for a white-ball series featuring three ODIs and three T20Is. However, due to rising political tensions between the two nations, the tour has now been postponed to 2026. As a result, India will not play any international cricket throughout August, marking an extended break for the team.

India’s next international assignment will be the Asia Cup 2025, set to be played in the T20I format in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Most of the players from the recent England tour are expected to be rested for the Asia Cup, giving a chance to fresh faces to showcase their talent on the international stage.
