Webinar: What’s New in BoldSign: July 2025 Features and Enhancements

July 2025 introduced significant updates to BoldSign designed to enhance flexibility, security, and efficiency across your e-signature workflows. These improvements offer greater control over templates, authentication, and API interactions, making document signing more seamless and secure.
In this blog post, we’ll explore the latest features and show how they can elevate your document signing experience.
Edit Document API Enhancements
BoldSign now supports editing both in-progress and draft documents via the Edit Document API. With this update, users can:
Update files, form fields, and signer details directly through the API.
Perform partial updates, modifying only the fields specified in the request.
Edit on-behalf-of documents by including the sender identity’s email address in the request.
This feature is especially useful for dynamic workflows where document content or signer information may change after initial creation. Whether you’re adjusting form fields, adding new signers, or updating authentication methods, the API makes it easy to adapt.

AI-Based Form Field Detection for Templates
BoldSign now offers AI-powered form field detection to accelerate template creation. This intelligent feature automatically places form fields in uploaded PDF or Word documents, saving time and reducing manual effort.
Highlights
Automatically detects and places the following field types:
Signature
Text box
Date signed
Checkbox
Radio button
Available exclusively during template creation.
Lets users move, resize, delete, or customize these fields as needed.
Supports templates with multiple recipient roles, allowing field reassignment.
How It Works
The BoldSign AI analyzes your document’s layout, text, and spacing to identify areas requiring input. It uses visual patterns like underlines, boxes, and labels to determine field placement. You retain full control to adjust or remove fields to suit your needs.
This feature significantly reduces setup time and provides a smoother workflow when preparing templates for signing.

Microsoft Entra ID Integration for User Provisioning
BoldSign now supports automatic user provisioning through Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) using the SCIM 2.0 protocol. This integration helps organizations streamline user management, enhance access control, and reduce manual administrative tasks.
Key Capabilities
Automatic email invitations are sent to users upon provisioning.
User profile details such as name, job title, and phone number are automatically updated.
Users are automatically deactivated in BoldSign when removed from Microsoft Entra ID.
Attribute mapping is supported to keep user data consistent across systems.
How It Works
Admins generate a SCIM secret token from the BoldSignIdentity Management settings.
They use this token to connect Microsoft Entra ID with BoldSign and configure synchronization.
Once connected, user provisioning is managed automatically, including role assignment and profile updates.
The integration supports create, update, and delete actions for user records. It’s available for Business plans and higher. It was designed for IT teams looking to centralize identity management and reduce manual overhead.

Collaborative Options
This section outlines the various collaborative features available.
Require Initials for Changes
Adds formal acknowledgment to field edits:
When enabled, any collaborator who modifies a field must provide their initials.
If another collaborator later changes the same field, they must also provide initials, creating a clear history of contributions.
Require initials for changes
Require Approval for Changes
Ensures all signers consent to changes made after signing:
If a field is edited post-signing, previously signed recipients are notified and must re-sign to approve the update.
This approval cycle continues with each new change, maintaining full agreement among all parties.
During re-signing, only collaborative fields are editable; all other fields remain locked.
Require approval
Required for Collaborators
Makes the field mandatory for assigned collaborators. The document cannot be completed unless the field is filled out, ensuring essential data is captured.
Required for collaborator
All changes are tracked in the audit trail and document history, providing a transparent record of edits and approvals.

Mobile App Enhancements
The BoldSign mobile app has received several productivity-focused updates, making it easier for users to manage documents while on the go.
Managing time-sensitive documents is now easier with the new expiration filtering feature in the mobile app. Users can quickly filter and view documents that are set to expire:
Today
Tomorrow
In the next 7 days
In the next 30 days
Within a custom date range
This filter applies only to documents that are currently in progress, helping users focus on pending actions that require timely attention.
Expiration-based filtering
Autodetection of PDF Form Fields
The mobile app now supports automatic detection of fillable form fields in uploaded PDF documents. When a user uploads a PDF, the app scans for fillable areas such as text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and signature fields. These are automatically replaced with corresponding BoldSign form fields.
This feature significantly reduces setup time for a smoother document preparation experience on mobile devices.
Autodetect form fields
Rename Uploaded Documents
The mobile app now allows users to rename documents during the upload process. The updated name:
Becomes the file name when documents are downloaded individually.
Makes it easier to identify and manage documents when handling multiple files.
This small but impactful feature improves clarity and file organization for mobile users.
