Shubman Gill Named Captain of North Zone Squad for Duleep Trophy 2025-26

Shubman Gill will skip the Duleep Trophy 2025-26 if he secures a spot in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad. The North Zone team for the Duleep Trophy 2025-26 was announced on Wednesday, August 7, with Gill named as the captain. However, should he be selected for India’s Asia Cup 2025 team, Services player Shubham Rohilla will take his place in the North Zone squad.
The Duleep Trophy 2025-26 is scheduled to run from August 28 to September 15, while the Asia Cup 2025 will begin on September 9 in the UAE. India players Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana have also been included in the North Zone squad.
In case Gill, Arshdeep, or Rana are called up for the Asia Cup, their replacements for North Zone are already lined up: Gurnoor Brar (Punjab) will fill in for Arshdeep, and Anuj Thakral (Haryana) will replace Rana. Additionally, seven standby players have been named for the North Zone squad for the tournament.
