turning boring tasks into growth opportunities

i know what it’s like to feel stuck in a job, even after you’ve worked so hard to get it . i spent two years trying to get my first developer job. it's a lot of work and i saw so many people quit before they even got an offer. i've always wanted to be a developer and it's sad to see how many barriers there are in the industry. there are more and more requirements and the competition is fierce. i believe that my own success, even after many mistakes, proves that you can grow in this field. that’s why i want to share the exact strategies i use to get better at my job without spending extra hours on it.

Don't let AI do the thinking for you

Using AI for creative work is like taking the elevator instead of the stairs. It feels easier now, but you're not building the muscles you need for the next challenge. Your brain is designed to save energy, and using AI lets you skip the hard part of problem-solving . i even struggled with this. i felt myself wanting to delegate too much to AI, so i’m now testing a new method where i quit using AI for a month, then use it for a month, and repeat . i’ll let you know how it goes, but for now, the key is to not delegate creative work to AI.

Stop picking easy tasks

It's natural to want to look good at work, so you might pick the easier tasks you know you can do quickly. But this is a trap. Difficult tasks—the ones you don’t know how to do—are what will actually help you grow. They force you to think, analyze, and collaborate with your team. Completing a hard task makes you feel confident because you’ve proven to yourself that you can step into the unknown and succeed. It’s the classic "no pain, no gain".

Become a company asset, not a contractor

Some jobs make you feel like you’re just a gear in a machine, easily replaceable. For me, i was once told openly that i was there only to deliver, not to grow. My biggest fear was losing my job and not being able to find another one. But it’s your responsibility to grow as a specialist, not your company’s. So, when you finish a task, don't report it as done right away. Spend an extra hour to go deeper. Understand how your changes fit into the whole project. This is your time to focus on your own growth during paid hours.

Practice interviewing for jobs

The best way to know if you're a capable developer is to go and pass an interview . i practice interviews every month. It gives me confidence and makes me feel independent from my current employer. It keeps me up to date on real-world projects and questions. Don't worry about running out of companies to apply to. The industry moves so fast, nobody will remember you in a few years.

Growth is not comfortable. It's painful to choose a difficult task or force yourself to solve a problem without a shortcut. But that short-term pain leads to confidence, strength, and freedom. The alternative is the pain of regret five years from now, looking back and realizing you're in the same place.

If you want to know more about these ideas, i talk about them in my latest video.
