A $256 Million Push for Recovery and Why Families Can’t Wait to Act

On July 21, 2025, Texas Public Radio reported a landmark development in the fight against opioid addiction: UT Health San Antonio’s Be Well Texas initiative will receive $256 million to expand opioid use disorder treatment services statewide. This funding, according to the report, will be used to grow access to medications for opioid use disorder, increase recovery support services, and train more providers across Texas.

“This investment will save lives,” said Dr. Jennifer Potter, vice president for research at UT Health San Antonio. “But the need is urgent and it’s everywhere.”

At Clear Path Intervention, we couldn’t agree more. We see the urgency every single day in families who call us on the brink, in parents who’ve tried everything, and in siblings who are terrified they’ll get that phone call in the middle of the night.

Our Mission in a Crisis That Can’t Wait

We are Clear Path Intervention, a nationwide team of professional interventionists dedicated to guiding families through addiction and mental health crises. We believe in acting before tragedy strikes, and in building recovery plans that work for both the person struggling and their loved ones.

As our founder, Brad Garraway, often says:

“Families don’t fail systems fail families. Our role is to bridge that gap, offering structure, compassion, and a plan when everything feels chaotic.”

Early Intervention: Where Hope Begins

The $256 million Be Well Texas expansion is a powerful step forward but even the best treatment programs can’t help someone who never gets there. That’s where we come in.

Our work starts with early intervention. We help families identify the signs that it’s time to act often long before the person struggling recognizes the need for help. By combining compassionate conversation with proven intervention strategies, we help create a pathway to treatment that’s rooted in dignity and respect.

Why wait? Research consistently shows that early action leads to better outcomes. The sooner someone receives help, the higher the likelihood they’ll engage in treatment, stay with it, and achieve lasting recovery.

What Sets Clear Path Apart

Families turn to us because we offer more than a one-time conversation. Our approach is:

  • Nationwide & family-centered We serve all 50 states, working directly with families to plan interventions that feel safe, supportive, and non-confrontational.

  • Expert-led & compassionate Our team brings both professional training and lived experience to every case. We understand the fear and exhaustion families feel because many of us have been there.

  • Focused on follow-through We don’t stop at the intervention. We help connect families with the right treatment programs, support services, and aftercare plans.

  • Crisis-proven Whether it’s alcohol, fentanyl, prescription medication misuse, or mental health concerns, we adapt our approach to meet the unique needs of each situation.

From News Headlines to Real-Life Impact

The Texas Public Radio article reminds us that progress is being made big, measurable progress. But numbers on a funding announcement can feel distant when your loved one is using alone in their room, or when you’ve already lost someone and can’t bear the thought of it happening again.

This is where national initiatives and local action meet. While Be Well Texas expands services and access, Clear Path Intervention makes sure more people actually get to those services in the first place. Our job is to take that moment the breaking point where a family says, “We can’t do this anymore” and turn it into the first step toward help.

Our Call to Families

If you take away one thing from this historic $256 million funding announcement, let it be this: help is expanding, but your loved one can’t benefit from it if they don’t get there. You don’t have to wait until rock bottom, until they’re ready, or until the “right time” those moments rarely come on their own.

At Clear Path Intervention, we walk with you through the hardest conversations you’ll ever have, and we stay connected until your loved one is safely in treatment and supported afterward. We believe there’s always a path forward and we’re ready to help you find it.

If you’re in the Southeast and need a professional interventionist in Alabama, we can be there guiding your family toward hope, healing, and recovery.
