Making messy progress: claude.ai voice recordings and new insights

Yesterday was quite a busy and long day, with lots of tasks aside from working on this project. Buuut that doesnt mean I could resist the temptation of making some progress anyway^^

So I thought of using any time slot i could get and used the walking time of multiple appointments I had to just throw my thoughts into claude.ai (loveliest LLM for real) and have him give me additional insights, sum up the ideas I had, put them in a structured plan and even create a whole code example for how I can turn my plans into reality. Would be so damn awesome… if he didnt write it with react, which i am not even using :D

With that being said, allow me to give you an overview of the things i decided on yesterday and then update you on what went on today.

So I brainstormed several topics with claude. Let me give you an example of what I seem to sound like to claude, while rushing to an appointment: “Hi, Paul. So today I thought that I wouldn't get anything productive done for my corrugated. Which is an intravital Iodogin. And the pasta PIXEL work storage ring direct office. But I thought that since I have to pay a walk kind of, like, which is time in December, it's coming with you.“ Not making much sense there, am I?

So as I said I brainstormed several topics with claude:

  1. Stat balancing. So like how level ups are gonna work. Like way later, too many other things to do first :D

  2. How the buttons should look like, for example an ink wash or some brushstroke like font to make it really martial arts like with some withered paper base colour.

  3. Which information buttons and their tooltips show, like requirements, success chances, hints to result and so forth.

  4. Different kind of buttons, like limited actions, unlimited, failure chances, hidden till unlocked. Loooots of interesting options here. Also buttons that wont let you cancel like closed door cultivation(yes you get a warning… probably) or just using default actions, having a queue for actions or needing time to consolidate the knowledge you just gained. perhaps just a reflection action that gives you a bonus to learning as you properly comprehended everything.

  5. We also discussed skills. Like Martial arts obviously, but also Mental Arts, Social Arts and more. So really a lot of different systems were roughly sketched out yesterday.

Which finally leads us to what happened today. I learned that itch.io, which I will be using for hosting the stage and productive versions of this game has some command line tool, which could help me automate the upload <3 Thats for later to implement, buuut very helpful to know regardless. While not on itch.io, there will also be a test version, where I will break things on a daily basis. For fun, for the world, for stress relief!

I had a short conversation with korneel(my pmo) that being a solodev might be a bit too much work for such a huge project. Though for reasons like my work portfolio and having to actually learn and apply all the techniques myself for now, this is what i will stay with for now. Really grateful for the honest feedback.

In addition I gained some understanding on how the game Your Chronicle handles story branching and showing which action has which unlocks both visually and via text. This will help me to find a system that works for myself to keep an overview later.

Hope you enjoyed the insights and that I will soon be able to implement the things I planned step by step.
