Political comedy "Miss Governor" Part 2 has landed on Netflix.

Creator Tyler Perry and Netflix debuted a truly comedic and creative series with their newest comedy, Miss Governor (formerly titled She the People). The series centers on Mississippi Lieutenant Governor candidate Antoinette Dunkerson (Terri J. Vaughn) who wins her election and then realizes her new job will involve a lot more than what she originally signed up for.

The season was split into two parts, both will be premiered on Netflix at different dates. The first 8 episodes premiered on May 22, 2025 on Netflix. The second set of 8 episodes released today on August 14, 2025.

Part one of this fresh new series was hilarious while also remaining entertaining with a compelling storyline. Vaughn is a natural and she is well casted for this role. The The narrative of this series uses political humor and maternal work-home life dynamics to make this series both intriguing and interesting.

The main cast includes:

  • Terri J. Vaughn as Antoinette Dunkerson: The newly elected Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi and the first Black woman to hold the office.

  • Jade Novah as Shamika: Antoinette's cousin and confidante, who also serves as her campaign assistant.

  • Jo Marie Payton as Cleo: Antoinette's boisterous and outspoken mother.

  • Drew Olivia Tillman as Lola Dunkerson: Antoinette's rebellious teenage daughter.

  • Tré Boyd as Titus Dunkerson: Antoinette's son and Lola's brother.

  • Dyon Brooks as Basil: Shamika's boyfriend and Antoinette's driver.

In addition to the main cast, the series also features a supporting cast including:

  • Robert Craighead as Governor Harper: A character portrayed as a racist who resists working with Antoinette.

  • Karon Riley as Michael: He also happens to be Terri J. Vaughn's real-life husband.

The series is co-created by Tyler Perry and Niya Palmer, with Tyler Perry also serving as the writer, director, and producer.
