Cody Gakpo: Liverpool Eager to Make a Statement Against Bournemouth in Season Opener

Cody Gakpo has said that Liverpool are eager to make a strong start tonight against Bournemouth. The Reds will begin their Premier League title defence at Anfield.

Gakpo told Liverpoolfc.com, “Everyone is excited to get going. Our pre-season went well overall, even though the last game didn’t go as planned. The new players have settled in nicely, and the whole team is ready to start.”

He added, “We worked very hard during pre-season, both in Asia and here at home. Now the season begins, and we hope to start strongly and show the world that Liverpool are back.”

Talking about their match against Bournemouth, Gakpo said Liverpool won’t take their opponents lightly.

He explained, “In the first game of the season, you want to start strong, so there’s always a bit more excitement and energy than usual. We just want a good start.

“Bournemouth are very intense and skilled, with some excellent players who handle the ball well.

“We also need to be intense, like we showed in many games last season. We must be better with the ball, and I believe we can create many chances.

“So, our focus is to score goals quickly and make sure we don’t concede.”
