Vector Embedding mom-friendly explanation

➡️ Mom, here’s the idea of vector embeddings in the simplest way:
Think of words (or pictures, or songs) like people at a party. Normally, words are just text, but computers don’t understand text the way we do. They only understand numbers.
So what we do is:
We give every word a little “address” made of numbers — like GPS coordinates on a map.
Similar words get placed closer together on this map.
For example, “cat” and “dog” will be near each other.
“Cat” and “banana” will be far apart.
That number-map is what we call vector embeddings.
In short:
👉 Embeddings are just a way to turn things (like words) into numbers, so the computer can understand meaning and similarity.
