Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh believes Shubman Gill can adjust and perform well in any format of the game. His comments come after news that Gill was left out of the Asia Cup squad. It has been over a year since Gill last played a T20 International.

Harbhajan highlighted that Gill’s solid batting technique is key to his ability to succeed in the 20-over format. He also praised Gill’s steady and impressive performances in the Indian Premier League.

“In T20 cricket, it’s not just about hitting big shots. If Shubman chooses to play aggressively, he can compete with anyone because he has a strong and solid technique. A batsman with such a good foundation can score runs in any format. In the IPL, Shubman has scored consistently every season and even won the Orange Cap — that doesn’t happen by luck. He doesn’t just bat at a strike rate of 120 or 130; he is also capable of scoring at 160,” said Harbhajan, as reported by The Times of India.

The 45-year-old said that besides scoring quickly and boosting the team’s momentum, Gill can also play steady, anchoring innings when needed.

“Yes, India has players like Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma, but Shubman Gill should not be underestimated. He is a very talented batter who can play in any format. I believe he can perform in T20s and even take control of the game. While fans love to see fours and sixes, teams also need players who can play long innings and help the team when it’s in trouble,” he added.

There has been some debate about Shubman Gill’s spot in India’s Asia Cup squad. However, he is still being considered for the team. So far, Gill has scored 578 runs in 21 T20 International matches.
