Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who recently returned from the Axiom-4 space mission, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and shared his optimism about India’s space future. Shukla said his international crewmates were enthusiastic about Gaganyaan, India’s first human spaceflight mission, and expressed eagerness to travel aboard the Indian spacecraft.

“Today, Indian kids know they can go to space,” Shukla told PM Modi, adding that India not only has the capability but also the potential to assume a leadership role in future space stations.

He highlighted that India could lead a collaborative project similar to the International Space Station (ISS), which currently operates as a joint effort of the US, Russia, Europe, Japan, and Canada.

India has already set its sights on building the Bharatiya Antariksh Station by 2035, marking a significant step in strengthening its space research and global collaborations.

PM Modi congratulated Shukla for his achievements and reaffirmed India’s commitment to becoming a global leader in space exploration through missions like Gaganyaan and beyond.
