The Unexpected Beginning

🎸 From a stage filled with music… to preserving the moving images that tell humanity’s story.
Josef Marc never thought he’d become a technology founder.
“Music was in my DNA,” Josef says. “My father was a musician, and I followed in his footsteps - touring, performing, living on the road. But one day, I knew I didn’t want to travel forever. That choice took me behind the scenes - into television, the Olympic Games… and eventually into creating machines that could save our shared history.”
It began with a shocking realization at the Olympics: we are losing our archives.
Film reels quietly decaying in storage.
Languages disappearing without a trace.
Moments that shaped our world - gone forever.
UNESCO warns we have only 10-15 years left to digitize remaining audiovisual heritage before it’s irreversibly lost.
Josef’s first invention preserved videotapes for over 500 archives in 25 countries. But film was harder - too slow, too expensive to save at scale.
That challenge became the foundation of Filmic Technologies.
Today, our mission is simple: Keep the past alive at the speed of the future.
Because every reel is a piece of humanity we can’t afford to lose.
