Governance is Heating Up: Two Key Proposals Live on the Summer.fi Forum

Governance is never static at Summer.fi. Every week, the DAO tackles proposals that shape how capital flows, how incentives align, and how the protocol evolves. Right now, two important discussions are live on the forum, and both deserve community attention.
1. SIP3.8 – Governance Staking Rewards Extension (Base Network)
The first proposal looks at extending governance staking rewards for SUMR holders on Base for another 90 days.
Why does this matter?
- It ensures a smooth continuation of incentives while the DAO deliberates on the bigger question of SUMR token transferability.
- Without this extension, the existing rewards program would lapse before clarity is reached on long-term token design and mobility.
- Extending the program buys the DAO time to make a carefully considered decision without disrupting current governance participation.
In short, SIP3.8 is about stability during transition—keeping stakeholders engaged while broader tokenomics are under review.

2. SIP2.28 – Onboarding Tulipa Capital’s Gearbox USDC Pool
The second proposal takes a different angle, focusing on yield strategies for Summer.fi users. SIP2.28 recommends adding the Tulipa Capital Gearbox USDC Pool as a new ARK within the USDC Higher-Risk Vault on Ethereum mainnet.
Here’s why it’s interesting:
- The pool is collateralized with Resolv yield-bearing assets (like wstUSR, RLP, and related Principal Tokens), creating a diversified basket of exposures.
- It represents a higher-risk, higher-yield strategy, ideal for users seeking more aggressive returns while still operating within the Lazy Summer framework.
- By onboarding this pool, Summer.fi broadens the lending and collateral diversification available to vault depositors, strengthening its role as a multi-strategy DeFi gateway.
This proposal is a chance for the community to weigh in on risk appetite, partner integrations, and vault design, all of which are central to how Summer.fi delivers yield in a dynamic DeFi market.

Why These Proposals Matter
Both SIPs highlight the dual mission of the DAO:
- Governance alignment (keeping SUMR incentives consistent during a pivotal tokenomics debate).
- Product innovation (expanding vault strategies to capture higher-yield opportunities).
Together, they show how Summer.fi balances stability and growth, ensuring the protocol remains a trusted, evolving platform for DeFi users.
