‘Where Did Harshit Rana Come From?’ – Ex-Selector Criticizes BCCI’s Asia Cup Picks

Former Indian cricketer and chief selector Chris Srikkanth criticized the selection of Harshit Rana in the Asia Cup 2025 squad, in which he pointed to Harshit’s IPL performance. Srikkanth said that the selection of Harshit Rana in the team at the expense of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna is not right. Mohammed Siraj has been performing for the team for a long time, and Krishna also won the Purple Cap in the IPL.
India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav defended the decision to select Harshit Rana and said that Harshit Rana’s performance was good in India’s matches. Despite this statement, Srikkanth expressed disagreement with the decision to select Harshit Rana and targeted the BCCI.
Suryakumar had said in the press conference at the time of the team announcement, “I think he is doing really well in the IPL and the matches played for India. I still remember the concussion replacement match in Pune. I also remember that he was named Man of the Match in the last T20 match played for India. Therefore, we support his skills. We know that he has the talent to perform well for India in this format.”
Chris Srikkanth’s statement on Harshit Rana
Srikkanth asked on his YouTube channel ‘Cheeky Cheeka’, “Where did Harshit Rana come from? His performance in IPL was very poor. He is being managed. His economy rate in IPL was 10. What message are you giving to Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj?”
Washington Sundar is right for India’s squad, not Shivam Dubey
Srikkanth also gave his opinion on the balance of the team, and said that Washington Sundar is a better option in the team, not Shivam Dubey, because recently he performed brilliantly with the ball and bat in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
