‘Unwell’ Shubman Gill Could Be Ruled Out of Duleep Trophy 2025

Star cricketer and India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has fallen ill and will miss the Duleep Trophy 2025. Gill, who was chosen as the captain of the North Zone squad, will now skip the tournament entirely and join the Indian team directly for the Asia Cup 2025, where he serves as vice-captain under Suryakumar Yadav.
With Gill unavailable, Ankit Kumar from Haryana will take over as captain of North Zone. The squad also includes other talented players such as Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Anshul Kamboj. Of these, Arshdeep and Harshit Rana will leave after the first match against East Zone to join the Indian team, as they have also been selected for the Asia Cup 2025.
According to Cricbuzz, Shubman Gill has been advised to rest and is currently doing so at his home in Chandigarh. Sources now confirm that the Fazilka-born batsman will miss the entire Duleep Trophy 2025. However, the zonal selectors and the national committee have not yet made an official statement about his absence.
To replace the 25-year-old, North Zone selectors will bring in Shubham Rohilla for the squad. Additionally, Gurnoor Brar and Anuj Thakral have been named as potential replacements for Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in the North Zone lineup for the six-team tournament.
