Several people lost their lives and many were injured during RCB’s IPL 2025 victory celebrations. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, stated that the franchise should pay tribute to the victims of the Bengaluru stampede. He added that their stories have now become an inseparable part of RCB’s history.

RCB had organised a victory celebration in Bengaluru on June 4 following their IPL 2025 final win. A felicitation ceremony for the players took place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on the same day, a day after the final.

Unfortunately, due to overcrowding and mismanagement, a stampede occurred near one of the stadium gates. The tragic incident resulted in multiple fatalities and left over 50 people injured. Police have filed a complaint against the ceremony’s organisers for negligence, leading to several arrests.

RCB Director Mo Bobat Pledges to Honour Victims of Bengaluru Stampede

RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat expressed the franchise’s commitment to honouring fans who lost their lives in the Bengaluru stampede. In an interview with Cricbuzz, he stated that their experiences have now become a part of RCB’s heritage and history.

“Cricket and the IPL are all about passion and enjoyment, and one of our biggest motivators is our fans. During the tournament, we often said we wanted to win it for them. Our fans have been incredibly patient—waiting 18 years for this moment. For some of them to have lost their lives is incredibly sad,” Bobat said.

He added, “We look forward to recognising these individuals and supporting their families. Their stories are now woven into our history. Every sports team has its heritage, and what our fans have experienced becomes part of ours. We owe it to them to honour their memory.”

The Bengaluru-based franchise had earlier announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh for the victims’ families and launched the ‘RCB Cares’ fund to provide medical assistance to injured fans.

Meanwhile, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will no longer host matches for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, as it failed to obtain necessary permissions. D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai has been named as one of the five replacement venues for the tournament.
