Rinku Singh revealed that being selected for Asia Cup 2025 has given a major boost to his confidence.

The Indian batter admitted he hadn’t expected to make it into India’s squad for the tournament. The team was announced on August 19 in Mumbai by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Rinku Singh was among the 15 players chosen for Asia Cup 2025. The left-hander has been a consistent performer in T20Is, scoring 546 runs in 24 innings at an impressive strike rate of 161.07, including three half-centuries.

Currently, Rinku Singh is leading Meerut Mavericks in the UP T20 League 2025. He recently marked a milestone by scoring his maiden T20 century in the tournament.

“Seeing My Name on the Asia Cup List Gave Me a Big Motivation” – Rinku Singh

"I didn’t perform my best…" Rinku Singh admits, expressing his surprise at being selected for India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025.

Speaking to RevSportz on the sidelines of the UP T20 League 2025, Rinku Singh revealed that he initially feared being left out of this year’s Asia Cup squad due to his inconsistent form last year. However, his selection has given him a significant confidence boost.

“I got motivated the moment I saw my name on the Asia Cup list. I didn’t perform well last year and thought I might be overlooked, but the selectors showed faith in me, which really boosted my confidence,” he said.

Rinku Singh added that his recent innings in the UP T20 League have further strengthened his self-belief. “The innings I played in the UP T20 League have boosted my confidence, and I plan to carry that momentum forward. Bowling is crucial today; selectors want players to contribute in multiple roles. If you can’t impact the game with the bat, you must do it with the ball,” he explained.

On his batting position, Rinku Singh admitted that he isn’t fond of batting at No. 7 or No. 8 but emphasized his adaptability. “I batted at No. 5 in 2023. I don’t enjoy batting at No. 7 or No. 8, but the team’s requirements come first, so you must perform wherever needed. I have played 33 T20Is for India, scoring three fifties, and I can bat in any position, not just as a finisher,” he said.

The Asia Cup 2025 is set to begin on September 9 in the UAE, with India taking on the UAE in their opening match on September 10 in Dubai. Placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, the Men in Blue will look to start their campaign on a strong note.
