Our community - who are we?


Approximately 4,000 people live in Bridgewater and Mount George across 1,600 households.
33% are couples with children,
25% are couples,
22% are lone person households, and
10% are solo parents with children.
38% of residents has/had a parent who was born overseas. We are slightly younger compared with the rest of the Adelaide Hills Council area combined, with lower proportions of people aged 50+.
A full understanding of people living with disability is not available at Bridgewater township level. However, we do know 33% of residents live with one or more long term health conditions.
39% of us have a Bachelor degree or higher and ~26% have a certificate and/or diploma level qualification. Approximately a quarter of us are engaged in full time employment, and slightly less than a quarter are not in the workforce or engaged in study.
10% of us rent our homes, 52% own their home with a mortgage and 34% own their home outright.
