Preparing for the Assessment

Preparation was the bridge between fear and confidence. I knew I couldn’t walk into the Women Techsters technical assessment unprepared, so I immersed myself in resources that sharpened both my technical skills and my confidence.

Some of the most helpful were:

  • YouTube tutorials — step-by-step guides on algorithms, data structures, and frontend basics that made abstract concepts practical.

  • Videos from Women Techsters Fellowship alumni — hearing their experiences gave me insight into what to expect and reassured me that success was possible.

  • Mock projects — simple tasks like building small React components or writing utility functions that helped me apply concepts hands-on.

  • Reading widely — blogs, documentation, and articles that expanded my understanding and gave me multiple perspectives on problem-solving.

Time management was equally important. I created a study plan that allowed me to dedicate focused hours daily, breaking topics into manageable chunks. Practicing under timed conditions prepared me for the pressure of the actual test.

But more than anything, I worked on my mindset. Instead of obsessing about failure, I reminded myself that preparation itself was growth. Whether I passed or not, every video I watched, every article I read, and every line of code I wrote was building skills I could carry forward.
