Aaryavir Sehwag Shines in DPL, Blasts Fearless Boundaries Off Navdeep Saini

Nearly a decade after Virender Sehwag’s retirement, his son Aaryavir Sehwag debuted in DPL 2025, scoring 22 off 16.
Aaryavir Sehwag Makes a Memorable T20 Debut
Almost a decade after Virender Sehwag last walked out on the 22 yards, the Sehwag name returned to the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. This time, it was his elder son, Aaryavir, making his debut in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) and leaving an immediate impression in his first competitive T20 match.
Opening the innings like his father, Aaryavir took time to settle in, getting off the mark with a single to third man on his fourth delivery. He then showcased impressive strokeplay reminiscent of senior Sehwag against seasoned campaigner Navdeep Saini. In the third over, Aaryavir clobbered Saini’s slightly overpitched delivery through deep extra cover for a boundary, followed by a second consecutive four, dancing down the track to punch the ball between extra cover and long-off.
*Classy batting! Aaryavir Sehwag smashes consecutive fours.

Aaryavir Shines Again for Central Delhi Kings
Aaryavir, who replaced Yash Dhull in the line-up after the latter left the camp to join the North Delhi Zone at the Duleep Trophy, continued his impressive form by smashing two more boundaries in consecutive deliveries an over later. Against left-arm spinner Rounak Waghela, he sent the first through third man and the second towards long-on. However, Waghela had the last laugh, dismissing Aaryavir for 22 off 16.
The emerging talent, acquired by Central Delhi Kings for ₹8 lakh at the DPL 2025 auction, has been making waves in domestic cricket. Last year, he debuted for Delhi in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, scoring 49 runs in a six-wicket win. He later grabbed headlines with an unbeaten 200 off 229 balls, featuring 34 fours and 2 sixes against Meghalaya in the Cooch Behar Trophy, followed the next day by a near-triple century of 297 off 309 balls, falling just three runs short of the milestone.
