๐ My RoboCon Journey โ Forms, Mechanism & First Look at the Lab (Day:3)

In my previous blog, I shared how our first meeting introduced us to the rulebook, the basketball theme, and the initial brainstorming. But RoboCon is not just about reading rules โ itโs about taking action.
๐ Forms & Documentation
After the first meeting, we were given forms to fill out along with some documentation. This step was crucial because it set the foundation for how the team would be organized, how tasks would be tracked, and how weโd make sure everyone contributed effectively.
It was at this point I realized โ RoboCon is not just about building a robot. Itโs a structured project, almost like a professional competition, where management and documentation matter just as much as the robot itself.
โ๏ธ The Mechanism Reveal
Soon after, we had another team meeting, and this was the game-changing moment โ we finally got to know the mechanisms we would be working on.
One of the most challenging ones was the DUNK mechanism.
Hereโs the twist:
๐ The robot must jump into the air while dunking.
๐ฏ The ball cannot be shot in a parabola or thrown โ it has to drop straight into the basket.
Hearing this, I was both amazed and nervous. It sounded like something out of an NBA highlight reel โ except now it was our job to make a robot do it.
๐ฅ Team Growth
By this time, our team had grown to about 15โ17 members. Each of us came with different strengths โ some strong in mechanical design, others in programming, and some in electronics.
I wonโt list the names just yet (Iโll definitely share that in an upcoming blog ๐), but seeing so many passionate people in one room was inspiring.
๐ซ My First Glimpse of the Lab
And then came one of the most unforgettable moments of my RoboCon journey so far โ seeing our college robotics lab for the first time.
Even though I had already spent 2.5 years in college, I never knew such a place even existed. The moment I entered, I was honestly shocked. The vibe was unmatched โ a mix of creativity, innovation, and pure passion.
I canโt even put into words the feeling I had walking into that lab. It was like stepping into a whole new world, and for the first time, I felt like this is exactly where Iโm meant to be.
โจ In my next blog (Day:4), Iโll share how I got assigned my first real task in the lab, how the team divided responsibilities, and what it felt like to finally start building rather than just planning.
Stay tuned, because this is where the real RoboCon work begins! ๐
