Introduction to Surah Al-Nas

The name “Al-Nas” means “Mankind”. This Surah is often recited for protection and is considered one of the two Mu‘awwidhatayn (the two chapters of refuge) along with Surah Al-Falaq. Together, these Surahs are recited as prayers for safeguarding oneself from both external and internal evils.

This Surah teaches believers to seek Allah’s help against the evil whispers of Shaitan that mislead humans towards sin. It also reminds us that such whispers can come not only from jinn but also from humans who influence others negatively.

Importance of Reciting Surah Al-Nas

Reciting Surah Al-Nas holds great spiritual importance as it acts as a powerful supplication for protection against hidden evils and harmful whispers. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often recite it, along with Surah Al-Falaq and Surah Al-Ikhlas, as part of the daily Sunnah for safeguarding oneself from both physical and spiritual harm. It reminds believers that only Allah, the Lord, Sovereign, and God of mankind, can provide true safety from the deceptive whispers of Shaitan and from negative influences
