My RoboCon Journey – First Task at the Lab (Day:4)

In my previous blog, I shared how I finally got my first look at the robotics lab. But what happened right after that deserves its own story — because this was the moment I touched hardware for the first time in RoboCon.
📞 The Call Right after leaving the college, I got a call from my friend:
“Where are you? We need you at the lab for some work.”
I was outside for some personal work, but the moment I heard “lab,” my excitement spiked.
“I’ll be there in 20 minutes!” I replied.
I didn’t know what task was waiting for me — but I was ready.
⚡ My First Real Task When I reached the lab, I got to know my very first assignment:
Start an old robot and make it work again.
This wasn’t directly for RoboCon 2025 — but it was a crucial step because our faculty needed that robot fixed first.
And here’s where I faced something completely new — the ESP32 microcontroller.
At that moment, I didn’t even know how to operate it, let alone make the robot work with it. But instead of panicking, I decided to just start experimenting, observing, and trying things step by step.
⏳ Two Hours of Struggle For two straight hours, I kept testing, retrying, and pushing through. Honestly, there were moments where I thought,
“Maybe I won’t be able to do this.”
But finally… the old robot came to life. 🚀
The motors whirred, lights blinked, and the system responded — and that small success felt huge to me.
🙌 The Feeling After completing the task, we reported everything to our sir, and then I headed home.
But the happiness I felt that evening was different. It wasn’t just about making the old robot run — it was about the realization that I could actually do this.
That day boosted my confidence like nothing else. From being clueless about ESP32 to making a robot start again, I felt one step closer to becoming a real RoboCon contributor.
✨ What’s Next In my next blog (Day:4), I’ll share how I got my first official role in the software team, how we divided responsibilities, and how I started managing tasks to make sure everything moved forward together.
This is where my RoboCon journey shifts from learning to leading. Stay tuned! 🚀
