Satellite platforms like SkyFi are making it easier to apply NDVI analysis in agriculture without needing technical expertise or specialized equipment.
NDVI, or Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, measures how crops reflect red and near-infrared light to assess vegetation health. Values closer to +1 typically indicate healthy, dense vegetation, while lower values can signal stress from drought, disease, or nutrient deficiencies.
Farmers and agronomists are using NDVI to:
- ๐ ๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฟ crop health over time
- ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ early signs of stress before they are visible on the ground
- ๐๐ฑ๐ท๐๐๐ irrigation and input strategies based on real conditions
- ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ yield potential more accurately
- ๐ฆ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ sustainable land and resource management
With regular access to NDVI imagery, decisions become more data-driven and less reactive, leading to more efficient and resilient operations.
