Mental health (part 1)

Where is my balance?

Balance between work and life is a very serious and controversial topic. At the beginning of a career, it is difficult to understand the boundaries between work responsibility and leisure. Huge ambitions, career development and increased revenue are turning a blind eyes to the world beyond work processes. Frequent obsession with a topic leads to burnout in someone who has no experience.

On the contrary, there is another side to a coin. An employee is in a hurry to run away from the office and pays little attention to tasks, pulling the balance towards life. This too can lead to burnout due to reduced motivation and a drop in interest in work.

So, maybe I can divine it equally?..

It's a difficult question. It's hard to imagine this in the real world. Cause personality. Productivity, speed of task execution, fatigue, communication skills, and so on can affect areas of human life equally. Unfortunately, we can't find silver bullet.

Try to describe yourself. See what qualities show your strengths and weaknesses. E.g., I don't get enough sleep, but I get into work quickly.

Work-life integration

Integration of work and life means creating a synergy of personal and professional responsibilities. From this point of view, work is only a new aspect of our lives, like a home, family and personal space. It's no longer a question of competition between spheres, but a question of the distribution of interests among variations of needs. It's better to look for a compromise rather than a conflict.

Of course, even from this point of view, difficulties cannot be avoided. You need a discipline and a clear plan for how to build such a process and life.

Lacks balance; what to do

Firstly, think about what you want to achieve. Access, what is comfortable for you, and what is the source of problems.

  1. Stop being a perfectionist. Try to ignore your guilt. You don't need to guilt yourself about what you can't do or what you don't have time to do. A human is not a machine. Even machines break down, though.

  2. Stay flexible. Try to be flexible in solving tasks or every issue.

  3. Create To-Do lists. What you need to do at work and where to go on the weekend.

  4. Take the right breaks. Don't bring your brain to a boil. Meditate, reflect and dream.

  5. Access your priorities. Focus on your priorities and free your personal time for other activities.

  6. Set boundaries. Work comfortably. Keep colleagues informed if you can't respond outside of office hours.

  7. Don't stop reflecting and improving. Analyze the current state of your work-life balance. Find compromise points. Such things take a long time.

Findings

Everything I have said may seem clear and already known. But often I see people who are in no hurry to even try this routine, although they know everything that has been said. It's very difficult to think that way. Even now, as I finish writing this note, I wonder if I'm doing all the things I've written about.

So, I appreciate you reading. I hope you enjoyed it. See ya.
