Nothing has launched its first-ever open-ear headphones, the Nothing Ear (Open), priced at $149. These earbuds stand out with their unique design, sitting atop the ear rather than inside the ear canal, promoting both comfort and awareness of your surroundings. This design is ideal for those who want to listen to music or podcasts while staying connected to what's happening around them, without the isolation caused by traditional earbuds.

The 14.2mm dynamic drivers deliver rich sound, while a Bass Enhance algorithm ensures better low-end frequencies—a common challenge with open-ear designs. Despite their open structure, Nothing has incorporated a Sound Seal System to minimize sound leakage, enhancing privacy even in public spaces. The earbuds offer 8 hours of playback, with an additional 30 hours via the sleek, compact case, though it lacks wireless charging.

Another exciting feature is ChatGPT integration, accessible via the Nothing X app, allowing users to make voice commands directly through the earbuds. However, these lack active noise cancellation due to their open design, but they focus on situational awareness and comfort【36†source】.

The Ear (Open) will start shipping globally from October 1, 2024, offering a new way to experience audio on the move.
