Stephen Belanger Joins Platformatic as Principal Engineer
Platformatic is thrilled to announce that Stephen Belanger, a renowned expert in Node.js performance and diagnostics, has joined our team as Principal Engineer.
Platformatic's engineering team, spanning three countries, has been diligently working to create a comprehensive Node.js application platform that bridges the gap between developers, operators, and the broader business landscape. Stephen's extensive experience and deep understanding of Node.js will significantly accelerate our mission.
Before joining Platformatic, Stephen held key positions at DataDog and Elastic, where he developed and enhanced Node.js profiling, tracing, and application performance monitoring solutions.
His contributions to the Node.js community over the last 13 years have been instrumental in shaping the Node.js ecosystem.
Outside of his daily work, he is Node.js core contributor and the founder of the Node.js diagnostics working group, ensuring that Node.js provides a set of comprehensive, documented, extensible diagnostic protocols, formats, and APIs.
As Platformatic continues to refine its enterprise offering, Stephen will be instrumental in developing innovative features that empower developers to build and operate their applications more efficiently. His expertise will be invaluable in enhancing our platform's telemetry, metrics, and overall performance.
"I've had the pleasure of knowing Stephen since 2017 and have witnessed his exceptional contributions to the Node.js community," said Luca Maraschi, Platformatic’s co-founder and CEO. "His deep knowledge of Node.js and his passion for building high-performance applications align perfectly with our vision. Stephen's contributions will be instrumental in driving our product forward and meeting the evolving needs of our enterprise customers.”
“Today, many cloud environments and deployments are inefficient and even discourage efficient designs, with observability tools often providing overwhelming data without actionable insights” says Stephen. “For years, I've been focused on how to manage execution to scale more effortlessly, more transparently, and how to make more efficient use of the resources available through more actionable observability. I decided to join Platformatic because I felt their vision for the future of Node.js overlaps with mine. I’ve known Platformatic’s founders for years and have confidence in our now shared ability to deliver on this vision as they see it.”
Stephen's Role at Platformatic
At Platformatic, Stephen will focus on developing a new generation of telemetry and metrics tools within our enterprise development platform. These enhancements will empower developers to gain deeper insights into their application's performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize their code.
“I met Stephen years ago as an active member of the Node.js community” says Matteo Collina, co-founder and CTO of Platformatic. “As of today, I’m excited to finally be working together on our quest to drastically reduce the overhead of observability in Node.js. I can’t wait for the work ahead of us– it’s going to be brilliant”.
